3 Reasons to Get Your GRI Designation

Home | Press | ABoR Blog | 3 Reasons to Get Your GRI Designation

In today's competitive industry, it often takes more than just motivation and initiative to succeed. Consumers are looking for REALTORS® with experience and education. What's the best way to show clients you've got what it takes? You go out and get yourself a designation, and the Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation is a good place to start.

Earning a GRI designation benefits you, your clients, and your business. Need more reasons to justify getting it? Here are three reasons why you should become a GRI designee:

1.) A bigger paycheck
REALTORS® with at least a designation: earned a median income of $61,000 while those without a designation earned a median income of $33,500, a difference of $27,600. (Source: 2013 NAR Member Profile)

2.) Invaluable knowledge
GRI graduates reported that they were better able to serve and protect their clients because of their newly found understanding of legal and regulatory issues, technology, professional standards, and the sales process. With GRI, designees gain a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to navigate the current real estate climate. What you learn ensures you stay relevant in today's ever-changing marketplace.

3.) A whopping amount of education credit
SAE hours are back! GRI courses are worth 10 CE hours and 30 SAE hours. Plus! You can apply GRI's education credits to other course requirements:

  • It counts towards the ABR elective requirement.
  • It counts as 16 elective credits towards the CRS designation.
  • It can be credited towards SRS.
  • Agents can apply the SAE hours towards their education needed for their license renewals
  • Seeking a broker's license? GRI can help with those hours as well.

"When you take the REALTOR oath, one of the things you are attesting to is your promise to provide the best services available to your customers/clients. Part of that process involves staying educated about current changes in the real estate industry. The GRI program is one of the best tools all REALTORS, whether new or seasoned, have at their fingertips."
