12 Central Texas students receive combined $28,500 in annual scholarships

AUSTIN, Texas – May 20, 2016 – The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) Foundation is pleased to announce its 2016 scholarship recipients. During the organization’s annual scholarship event, the Foundation awarded 12 Central Texas high school seniors and university students with a total of $28,500 in scholarships to pursue higher education.

“The ABoR Foundation sees giving back to the community through scholarships as one of the most sustainable ways to make a difference in the future of Central Texas,” said 2016 ABoR Foundation Chair Steve Crorey. “We’re proud to help these talented local students achieve their academic goals because we know they will take what they learn in school and ultimately help shape the success of our community in years to come.”

The Foundation has awarded more than 300 scholarships since its inception in 1978, including more than $250,000 in the last five years alone.

“The ABoR Foundation couldn’t do this without the generous support of the Austin-area REALTORS® and community members who partnered with us to make this year’s scholarships possible,” said Crorey. “We’re excited to see what’s in store for these promising students and hope that the scholarships help alleviate some of the financial stress that can accompany a college education.”

“The financial assistance [the ABoR Foundation] generously gave allowed me more time to study and become active in organizations while spending less time worrying about how I would pay for needed items,” said Morgan Oliver, 2015 ABoR Foundation Scholarship Recipient. “Part of my motivation for future success is linked to wanting to continue the philanthropic ideas that your foundation embodies. I hope to make a difference someday in the lives of others the same way that [the Foundation] has made a difference in my life.”
