Housing Market Stats and Report FAQs

Home | Housing Market Stats and Report FAQs

As of January 2016, we are proud to expand our monthly housing market data and report, offering REALTOR® members comprehensive statistics for the Central Texas region. We’re excited to continue to provide members with resources that make Austin REALTORS® the foremost authority for housing market information in Central Texas.

FAQs:

Q1: What geographical areas will ABoR report on in 2017?

A1: Starting with the January 2016 market statistics release, ABoR will begin reporting housing market statistics for the five county Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). In addition to the MSA-level data, the monthly statistics reports will include infographics with housing market data for the 18-county Central Texas region, City of Austin, Hays County, Williamson County and Travis County.

Q2: Will there be any changes in the housing market data I receive?

A2: You might notice that the data in the 2016 monthly housing market reports looks a little different than what you’re used to seeing. ABoR will now be reporting on housing market data sourced from the Data Relevance Project, a partnership among local REALTOR® associations and their MLSs, the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University and the Texas Association of REALTORS®. The Data Relevance Project aggregates all home listings in a geographical area, regardless of which MLS the listing is entered in. As a result, ABoR’s monthly housing market report will now include listings from the ABoR MLS as well as Central Texas listings that have been entered in other MLSs in Texas.

Q3: How does this change benefit Austin-area REALTORS® and homebuyers and sellers?

A3: Housing market conditions vary significantly throughout the Central Texas region. With housing demand at an all-time high, it is paramount that Central Texas homebuyers and sellers are equipped with up-to-date, localized housing market data as well as an expert who can help them navigate today’s competitive market. ABoR’s expanded monthly housing market reports will allow Austin REALTORS® to provide homebuyers and sellers even greater context on local housing market conditions and trends throughout Central Texas, further empowering Austin REALTORS® to be the go-to experts on the local markets they serve.
