Why are we switching keys?

Requests from REALTORS® for a more technologically-advanced key system have prompted ABoR to retire the Supra dKey in favor of the ActiveKEY. The ActiveKEY is a cradle-free device that brings you improved service and more features.

When will the exchange take place?

Exchanging your dKEY for the new ActiveKEY will take place from October 5-9, 2009 at various locations.

What happens if I can’t make my scheduled appointment?

The best time to swap out your dKey is October 5 – 9 due to ample availability of staff to assist you. If you cannot attend during your scheduled time you may swap out your dKey the following week at ABoR. Expect longer wait times if you exchange your device at ABoR after October 9.

What should I know before attending my dKey appointment?

Before you attend the dKey exchange, please make certain that you are aware of the following:

• Make sure your ABoR account is current.

 

• The key holder must be present for the exchange (i.e. staff, colleagues or spouses will not be permitted to participate on your behalf).

 

• Be sure to bring your photo identification, dKey and cradle.

 

• If you plan to attend Realty Round Up on October 7, you must schedule an appointment.

• Shortly after October 9, dKEYs will cease to work.

Will the switch to the ActiveKEY cost more?

ActiveKEY services are being delivered at no additional cost until April 2010. The new ActiveKEY pricing will be reflected in the next MLS billing cycle in 2010. The increase equates to approximately $3.00 per month. The next billing cycle will reflect the new cost of $90.00 plus tax, every six months. Insurance is available for as little as $12.00 plus tax, every six months. The replacement cost for lost or stolen keys that are not protected by insurance is $259.99 plus tax.

Must I charge my ActiveKEY?

While the ActiveKEY does not require a cradle to keep itself updated, it does need to be charged, just like your cell phone. The ActiveKEY comes with a wall charger. An optional car charger will be available on site at the special event rate of $19.95 plus tax.

Can I upgrade my dKey to an eKey instead of the ActiveKEY?

Yes, you may upgrade your dKey to an ActiveKEY anytime during the key exchange EXCEPT during the exchange to be held at the Austin Convention Center during Realty Round on October 7. Learn more about the eKey by clicking here. For a list of Smartphones that work with eKey, click here.

When will my dKey stop working?

DKeys are expected to stop functioning shortly after October 9. Please make certain that you participate in the switch to ActiveKEYs to ensure uninterrupted key service.
