    Chairman’s Corner

Over the past few months we’ve been researching innovative tools that use the

latest technology to help you work more effectively and efficiently. Here are two

resources coming to you this summer – and as an ABoR member you can use

    them free of charge.

    1.  ListHub. Many of us use ListHub, an online distribution center for posting homes on the Web. Once your broker registers for the service, ListHub pulls your listings from the MLS system and routes them to real estate Web sites like www.frontdoor.com, www.yahoo.com and www.google.com. And ListHub is about to get even better! By late July, we’ll be able to send traffic reports to our sellers detailing how many times their home was viewed on each Web site.

2.  MongoFAX. Look for MongoFAX by the end of summer. This service allows you to fax in a document and have it e-mailed to you as a PDF file. Here’s the best part: now MongoFAX recognizes your handwriting when you print your e-mail address on the fax cover sheet. One disclaimer – if you were a doctor in another life, please print legibly!

Look for more information on these and other resources on Abor.com and in our monthly newsletter. I look forward to keeping you updated on all our new developments. Send your questions to me at 2008Chairman@gmail.com. Thanks!

Telephone Surveys Set for July

In July, ABoR will be conducting an in-depth customer service survey to measure the effectiveness of products and services. Twenty-minute telephone interviews will be conducted with approximately 600 members who will be selected at random by independent firm Loyalty Research Center. Findings will also be used to determine new means of serving members. Should you receive a call, please take a moment to share your views. Published results are expected this fall. Members should be aware of an unapproved survey being distributed to agents via e-mail. The company sponsoring the survey, Agent Premier Web Design, Link U Systems Inc, does not represent the Austin Board of REALTORS®.

ACTRIS Adds Detached and Attached Condo Subsets

In response to subscriber request, ACTRIS has added two new subsets of the “Condo” section of MLXchange: “Condo Attached” and “Condo Detached.” These subsets accurately describe traditional condos and single-family stand alone structures legally zoned as condominiums. Properties that fall within the “Condo Detached” field will default to the “House” field in search results, but may be excluded from search results.

Property fields for all condos listed in the MLS system have been changed to “Condo Attached.” Free-standing condos must be modified to “Condo Detached.” If you have an off-market listing that needs to be changed to “Condo Detached,” contact the MLS Support Team at 512/454-7636.

Are You in Compliance with NAR Ethics Requirements?

NAR mandates that new members complete ethics training within the first year of joining and that established members take an ethics course every four years. As of June 9, ABoR suspended membership of REALTORS® who joined in or after 2005 and failed to take an ethics course. At year’s end, ABoR must also suspend established members who have not received training during the January 1, 2005 – December 31, 2008 four-year cycle.

Fulfill your ethics training requirement in one of several ways.  NAR and TREC ethics courses are offered monthly at ABoR. Click here to register. Or, click here to complete NAR’s free online ethics training.

If you have completed ethics training through an alternate provider, forward a copy of your completion certificate or a copy of your education record to ABoR.  Education records are available at www.trec.state.tx.us.

Proof of ethics training should be e-mailed to education@abor.com, faxed to 512/454-1730 or mailed to: Education Department, Austin Board of REALTORS®, 10900 Stonelake Blvd., Ste. 100, Austin, TX 78759.  For more information, contact Sally Yaryan at 512/454-7636, ext. 1600.
