SECURE A SPOT AT THE GRADUATE REALTOR® INSITUTE

June 16, 2005 - For REALTORS®, the Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI) designation means more than just a showy logo on business cards -- it represents certain levels of achievement and reliability. Before receiving the designation, GRI candidates have five years to complete 90 hours of coursework in areas ranging from real estate law to electronic commerce. That dedication pays off: A 2003 National Association of REALTORS® member survey showed REALTORS® with the GRI designation annually earn around $30,000 more than non-designees.

The GRI curriculum is divided into three one-week courses, which can be taken in any order. The Austin Board of REALTORS® offers all three modules throughout the year. The GRI-3 offered August 15-19 is virtually sold out. Instructors Mark Porter and Bill Evans will focus on areas of e-commerce, technological tools, investment and taxation, and goals and productivity.

The class will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the ABoR Auditorium located in Quarry Oaks Atrium at 10900 Stonelake Blvd. in Austin. Cost for members is $275 before August 8, $300 after; cost for non-members is $300 before August 8, $325 after. As with all GRI courses, lunch and two breaks will be provided by corporate sponsors including D.R. Horton, Teravista, Taylor Woodrow Homes, University Federal Credit Union, First American Homebuyers Protection, Austin Real Pros, Centex House Leveling, Perry Homes, NSpect of Austin, REALending, American Home Shield and Steiner Ranch.

The Austin Board of REALTORS® is a non-profit, voluntary organization representing more than 5,500 licensed REALTORS® in Central Texas. For further information, contact the ABoR Education Department at 512/454-7636 ext. 2005.
