LOCAL REALTOR® FOUNDATION TO AWARD $10,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS

January 31, 2005 - The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) Foundation is once again presenting $10,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Ten awards of $1,000 each will be awarded for use at any Texas college or university. Students must be graduating seniors from any of the following counties: Travis, Williamson, Lee, Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Blanco, or Burnet.

Grade point average, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, and previous employment will all be reviewed by the ABoR Scholarship Committee. Students must include a high school transcript and an attendance record with their application. A written essay is not required.

"The ABoR Foundation believes it is important to invest in our community by assisting our future leaders in furthering their education," said ABoR Foundation Chairman Buck Sandlin.

Applications may include recommendations from teachers, principals, counselors or friends of the family. Financial need will be considered, but it is not a deciding factor.

Applications and further information can be found at www.abor.com. ABoR must receive the applications by 5 p.m. on March 31, 2005. For more information on the ABoR scholarships or the application process, contact Sally Yaryan at 512/454-7636, ext. 1600 or syaryan@abor.com.

The ABoR Foundation, representing more than 6,000 licensed REALTORS® in Central Texas, is a charitable organization that provides scholarships, conducts service projects in the community and helps REALTORS® and their families in the event of catastrophe. For more than 10 years, the ABoR Foundation has awarded scholarships to high school seniors to help struggling families put their children through college.
