ABoR ANNOUNCES 2006 BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Charles Porter, Chairman-elect Charles, the president of Bryker Properties, was nominated as 2006 Chairman-elect. He has served on both the Grievance and Professional Standards Committees, as well as on several ABoR task forces. Charles is active in REALTOR® education, having instructed several courses and written one, "Mediate, Arbitrate, Litigate."
Socar Chatmon-Thomas, Secretary/Treasurer Socar has worked in the real estate industry for the past 12 years, collecting CRS, ABR, GRI and CRP designations along the way. She has served on the ABoR Government Affairs Committee, the Texas Real Estate Political Action Committee (TREPAC) and the Texas Association of REALTORS® (TAR) Housing Initiatives Committee. Current secretary/treasurer Charles Porter cerified Socar's victory following a ballot vote of the membership at large.
Roger Sturgell, Immediate Past Chairman Roger finishes his tenure as Chairman of the Board in December, but he'll remain on the board as the immediate past chair in 2006. He is a REALTOR® at Avalar Austin Real Estate. Roger holds a GRI designation and has served on ABoR's Board of Directors since 2001.
These aforementioned officers will join 12 new and returning directors. The new directors in 2006 are: Jeanne Butterfield of Re/Max Austin Associates; Sheila Hawkins-Bucklew of Coldwell Banker United; John Horton of Realty World-John Horton and Associates and Joe Williams of Keller Williams Realty. Jay Gohil of Jay Gohil Realty was nominated to serve a second term in 2006. The continuing directors are: Paula Adkins of Paula Adkins Real Estate; Kay Andrews of AvenueOne Properties; Carol Dochen of Carol Dochen REALTORS®; Valerie Lyday of Coldwell Banker; Lizanne McDaniel of McDaniel Properties; Mary Mealy of Top Realty Services and John C. Sheppard of Home Source.
ABoR congratulates and thanks all members of the Board of Directors for their unmatched commitment to the association and the Austin-area real estate industry. The 2006 directors will be sworn in at ABoR's annual Installation and Awards Party, being held this year on December 2 at the Renaissance Hotel in the Arboretum.
