Press Releases: 2006

ABoR AND CLAREITY SECURITY UNVEIL NEW SAFEMLST TOKEN

March 30, 2006 - The Austin Board of REALTORS® and Clareity Security have collaborated on a new initiative to protect valuable Multiple Listing Service (MLS) data. Beginning May 11, ABoR will give members the new SAFEMLST token, a "strong authentication" device that requires multi-level clearances in order to access listing information.

Once implemented, the SAFEMLST token will be very easy to use. In practice, the system will add only one minor step to accessing the MLS. After entering their usual login information, subscribers then will press the gray token button, which will reveal a single-use password. Subscribers must enter the new, additional password to complete the verification process. ABoR hopes the introduction of single-use passwords will deter illegal password sharing.

From May 11 to 14, ABoR will distribute SAFEMLST tokens to all MLS members. The distribution will take place at the Norris Center, located in Northcross Mall. Six delivery sessions will be held per day, divided up according to agents' last names. Please watch your mail and Abor.com for specific time assignments.

The Austin Board of REALTORS® is a non-profit, voluntary organization representing more than 7,000 licensed REALTORS® in Central Texas. For further information, contact Andrew Knieberg at 512/454-7636, ext. 1111.
