Austin Board of REALTORS® Foundation to Award $10,000 in Scholarships

January 29, 2007 - To promote the best of Texas' youth, the Austin Board of REALTORS® Foundation will award $10,000 in scholarships to graduating high school seniors. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded for use at any Texas college or university. Eligible students must be graduating seniors from one of the following counties: Travis, Williamson, Lee, Bastrop, Caldwell, Hays, Blanco, and Burnet.

Students interested in the scholarship must include an official high school transcript and an attendance record with their application. The ABoR Scholarship Committee will also consider grade point average, SAT/ACT scores, extracurricular activities, and employment history. To supplement their applications, students may include no more than five recommendations from teachers, principals, counselors, ministers, or family friends. No written essay is required.

Applications and further information can be found online. Completed applications can be mailed or hand delivered to: Attn: Kelli Odum: Education Department, 10900 Stonelake Blvd., Ste. 100, Austin, Texas 78759. The application deadline is 5 p.m. on March 23. No applications will be accepted after the 5 p.m. deadline. Established in 1978, the ABoR Foundation has awarded more than 230 scholarships to high school seniors to help families put their children through college.
