2008 Scholarship Winners Announced by ABoR Foundation
May 16, 2008 - The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) Foundation is pleased to award
scholarships of $1,000 to 10 graduating high school seniors in the Austin area. Each year, the
Foundation recognizes students’ academic merit, extracurricular involvement and employment
histories with scholarships that are good for use at any Texas college or university.
The Foundation warmly congratulates these deserving scholarship recipients: Ashty Karim of
Round Rock High School, who will study chemical engineering at UT-Austin; Nickolas Abbott
of Taylor High School, who will study international journalism at Baylor University; Chase
Goetz of Lexington High School, who will study mechanical engineering at Texas A&M
University; Ying Guo of David Crockett High School, who will study electrical engineering at
UT-Austin; Jaclyn C. Joseph of Round Rock High School, daughter of REALTOR® Michael
Joseph, who will study business at UT-Austin; Colin A. Hawkins of LBJ High School, who will
study physics at UT-San Antonio; Darlene King of McCallum High School, who will study
mechanical engineering at UT-Austin; Teresia Pham of Cedar Park High School, who will study
medicine at UT-Austin; Sarah Kocurek of Blanco High School, who will study education at
Tarleton State University; and Aaron Tonn of Giddings High School, who will study agricultural
engineering at Blinn College and Texas A&M University.
As this year’s selection process was highly competitive, the winners distinguished themselves by
demonstrating a high level of maturity for his or her age and a commitment to both personal and
community development. ABoR is proud of their accomplishments and wishes them the best as
they embark on their college careers.
The ABoR Foundation, representing more than 8,000 licensed REALTORS® in Central Texas, is
a charitable organization that provides scholarships, conducts service projects in the community
and helps REALTORS® and their families in the event of catastrophe. Established in 1978, the
ABoR Foundation has awarded nearly 250 scholarships to high school seniors to help families
put their children through college.
