Best of the Best Honored with Industry Awards
October 28, 2008 - The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) is pleased to announce the winners
of the 2008 industry awards. Members will be recognized in the following categories: REALTOR®
of the Year; Affiliate of the Year; Rookie of the Year; Community Service; and Cultural Awareness.
REALTOR® of the Year
Lynda Conway, JB Goodwin, REALTORS®
Lynda Conway has been active in the real estate industry for over 10 years and has held leadership
positions with ABoR and the Texas Association of REALTORS® (TAR). Additionally, she has
earned the ABR, CRS, CTS, GRI and SRES designations and authored the award-winning “Truth in
Advertising” course.
Affiliate of the Year
Sandy Battise, Land Mortgage
In her two years as an affiliate member, Sandy Battise has offered her time to ABoR’s Scholarship,
Education and Installation committees and the Women’s Council of REALTORS® (WCR). Battise
holds the Certified Mortgage Planning Specialist designation and created the MoneySmart
REALTORS® program, which provides networking and coaching opportunities to new agents.
Rookie of the Year
Barry Adelman, Realty World Home and Investments
Although Barry Adelman has been a REALTOR® for less than one year, he has already closed ten
real estate transactions totaling $2,233,000. He is also active on ABoR’s Government Affairs and
Grievance committees and is pursuing the GRI designation.
Community Service
Russell Lewis, AvenueOne Properties
Russell Lewis has been an ABoR member for more than 15 years. In that time, he has donated his
service to numerous volunteer organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, the Boy Scouts of
America, the Blood Center of Central Texas, the Eanes School District and Mobile Loaves and
Fishes.
Cultural Awareness
Shelia Hawkins-Bucklew, Hawkins Bucklew International
In her five years as an ABoR member, Shelia Hawkins-Bucklew has worked to increase her knowledge of international real estate and to share her findings with others. She is also involved with
the National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) and the WCR.
The 2008 Industry Award winners will be saluted at the Installation and Awards Celebration on Friday,
December 5 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Renaissance Austin Hotel, located at 9721 Arboretum
