Contributions to Industry

ABoR awarded Education Program of Year, Members inducted into prestigious fraternity

March 23, 2010 - The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) is pleased to announce recognition by the Texas Association of REALTORS® (TAR) for our online Learning Communities. Announced at TAR’s Winter Meeting in February, ABoR was honored with the Education Program of the Year Award in the Innovation category. This award recognizes ABoR’s dedication to providing quality solutions to meet the growing needs of members in an evolving marketplace.

Launched in April 2009, ABoR’s Learning Communities provide both ABoR members and MLS subscribers with a quick, easy way to engage with and learn from one another. Community categories ranging from technology trends to property management and leasing provide users with a wealth of timely, relevant information on a variety of real estate topics. Members are encouraged to discuss and share resources, news, Web links and professional advice in the communities.

The Learning Communities have far exceeded ABoR’s goals in the first year with more than 1,000 community participants in 2009. Currently, the MLS Subscribers and ABoR Members Communities boast nearly 1,700 members each.

ABoR would also like to congratulate three of our members – Socar Chatmon-Thomas of Elegant Estates by Auction, Jay Gohil of Jay Gohil Realty and Robert Wright of R.L. Wright, REALTORS® – on their induction into the Omega Tau Rho fraternity during TAR’s Winter Meeting. Recognizing REALTORS® who have made outstanding contributions to the real estate industry, this honorary fraternity exemplifies the REALTORS®’ pledge of performance and excellence to clients and each other. As long-time ABoR members, these individuals have not only made lasting impressions on the real estate profession, but the association as well – from serving on the Board of Directors to sharing their wisdom on numerous ABoR committees.

Omega Tau Rho inductees received a Medallion of Service in recognition of their contributions to the National Association of REALTORS® and its affiliated Institutes, Societies and Councils. Once a medallion is awarded, the recipient is a member of the prestigious Omega Tau Rho fraternity for life. Created in 1950, the fraternity now has approximately 4,000 members nationwide.

The Austin Board of REALTORS® is a non-profit, voluntary organization representing more than 8,000 licensed REALTORS® in Central Texas.  For further information, please contact Angela Brutsché at 512-454-7636, ext. 1300.
