ABoR Foundation Awards Scholarships to Central Texas Students

Austin Board of REALTORS® Foundation awards scholarships to Central Texas students

32 students receive combined $62,000 in scholarships

AUSTIN, TX – The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) Foundation recently awarded 32 local high school seniors and college students with a combined $62,000 in higher education scholarships. Recipients, who were selected based on academic merit, leadership and financial need, must reside within the association’s 18-county Central Texas service area and have committed to a Texas higher-education institution in order to receive the scholarship.

“While the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way we operate, we haven’t let that stop us from celebrating some of the best and brightest young minds in Central Texas,” Carrie Weikert, ABoR Foundation chair, said. “Helping students pursue higher education is an investment in our community’s future. We’re thankful for the generosity of our REALTOR® donors and volunteers who spent countless hours reviewing applications this spring.”

Since 1978, the ABoR Foundation has awarded more than 450 scholarships, including more than $300,000 in scholarships in the last five years alone. Funding for the ABoR Foundation scholarship program is made possible by the generous support of more than 14,000 Central Texas REALTORS®.

“The last few months have brought new meaning to education access as, for many families, the workplace and the classroom are now located in their home,” Romeo Manzanilla, ABoR president, said. “I’m proud of the role Central Texas REALTORS® play in not only connecting families to home, but in directly investing in our region’s future leaders through this program.”
