According to the 2016 Texas International Homebuyers Report, Texas ranked No. 3 in the U.S. for international home sales volume by state, preceded by Florida (22 percent) and California (15 percent). From April 2015 to March 2016, one in 10 of homes purchased by international buyers were purchased in Texas—and this number is only increasing! Real estate agents who want to ride the wave of the future must now look beyond local and embrace global, as there are plenty of opportunities for lead generation just over the horizon.
If you’re not already making international transactions, there’s no need to panic. You and your business can become global one step at a time. Here are a few recommendations for easing into global real estate:
- Pick a niche.
Don’t cast the net too wide, at least not right away. An NAR blog, mentions to start small and to avoid trying to be the real estate agent of the world. Pick a niche that suites you. It could be that your family or friends have ties back to that country, your second language is a country’s primary’s language, you know a lot of opportunity for international real estate is coming from a certain region, or maybe you just have a deep passion for a country’s, culture, food, language.
