There's no more perfect way to celebrate the season of giving than to help build a home for a deserving family. The ABoR Foundation is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity for the fourth time for the Holiday Blitz Build from November 29 to December 16.
This year, we're looking for some spirited volunteers to spend the day helping give the Zerihun family a place to call home—and just in time for the holidays!
Join the ABoR Foundation and Habitat for Humanity in helping make their dream become a reality. Volunteers can sign up for any of the days during the Build.
Shifts are 8 a.m.–4 p.m., unless listed otherwise. Habitat for Humanity provides all supplies, including hardhats. Volunteers must provide their own transportation to the work site.
About the Zerihun Family
Shiferaw Zerihun and Bedy Alemu Bezenesh came to America for one reason - to escape fighting and war in Ethiopia. Ruled by a government that limits personal freedom and having the threat of war always looming, Ethiopia no longer felt like a safe, stable home. After making the decision to move, they spent three years apart as Bedy cared for their young daughter in Ethiopia and Shiferaw lived in Kenya, waiting through the immigration process. Finally, in 2012, they were together again and ready to create a new life in Austin. Bedy said, “The day I got here, it felt like home.”
