Austin Board of REALTORS® Names New Chief Executive Officer
Emily Chenevert will assume role as CEO effective immediately
AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin Board of REALTORS® (ABoR) announced today that Emily Chenevert, formerly interim chief executive officer (CEO), has been named CEO of the organization effective immediately. The announcement comes after the 15-member ABoR board of directors made a united decision at their April 4 board meeting.
“Emily’s passion and deep knowledge of the real estate industry, coupled with her already successful tenure at ABoR, undoubtedly makes her the right choice for CEO,” Steve Crorey, 2018 president of the Austin Board of REALTORS®, said. “After getting to know Emily over the last several years, and working in close partnership with her particularly over the last few months, I look forward to supporting her efforts as she further develops and advances the organization.”
As CEO, Chenevert will preside over a 13,000-member organization with a $15 million annual budget. She will continue to oversee the day-to-day operations of all three ABoR locations, the Austin/Central Texas MLS (ACTRIS) and manage a staff of over 50 employees. Chenevert is the youngest and first female CEO hired by the Austin Board of REALTORS®.
On January 1, 2018, Chenevert assumed the role of ABoR’s interim chief executive officer and smoothly transitioned the organization, overhauling internal and external communications and effectively growing membership.
Chenevert began her tenure at ABoR as director of public and government affairs, where she managed campaigns for housing affordability and advocated for private property rights of homeowners. Chenevert has a long track record of advocating for REALTORS® and their businesses at local, state and national levels of government. Under her tenure of leadership at ABoR, she has regionalized ABoR’s footprint and member services, championed MLS listings data integrity standards, and led ABoR through two Five-Year Strategic Plans and a successful rebrand.
“I am honored to be named chief executive officer of the Austin Board of REALTORS®,” Chenevert said. “Having spent my entire career in the industry, I understand the importance of ABoR’s past but remain committed to a bright and new future. ABoR is well positioned to thrive in an ever-evolving industry.”
Chenevert has a wealth of industry knowledge at both the national and local level, particularly in Central Texas. Earlier in her career, she managed relationships with REALTOR® associations for the Texas Association of REALTORS®. She also managed marketing efforts for two master-planned communities in the Central Texas region.
Chenevert earned her Bachelor of Arts in government from The University of Texas at Austin. She is a member of the HousingWorks Austin Board of Directors and a graduate of Leadership Austin.
