Most agents, unless they have been in a sales position prior to entering the real estate industry, have never been taught basic sales techniques. In real estate, the sale is the listing appointment—you are selling your services to someone who wants to sell their home. You will be marketing it for them. That’s the basic difference between sales and marketing. We don’t actually sell houses, we sell our services to people who want to sell houses. Most people think that marketing only applies to listings, but it’s more important that you know how to market yourself or you won’t have a lot of listings to market!
