We all know how hot Texas can get during the sweltering summer months, but did you know that a simple fan can lower body temperature by up to 8 degrees? To the medically endangered and low-income elderly residents in our community, a fan can provide more than comfort -- it can save a life.
The ABoR Foundation is teaming up again with Family Eldercare to collect as many fans as possible for the vulnerable in our community. Last year, 6,700 fans were distributed to over 3,200 households and ABoR Foundation is proud to have contributed more than 100 fans and $7,500 toward that. Can you help us exceed those numbers this year?
How Can I Get Involved?
- Donate a new 20" box fan or a new 12" oscillating fan. You can drop off fans through June 15 to any ABoR location or AMLI property. To make this as easy as possible, we have also created a link to purchase and send the fan directly to ABoR.
- Donate via PayPal using the button below. Let's give as much flexibility to Family Eldercare to make the most impact for our most vulnerable.
In addition, mark your calendars to join us on June 15 for the Fans from Fans celebration on June 15 at Threadgill's. Participants will be delivering all fans and funds raised from across the region, and it's always a lot of fun!
About Family Eldercare's Summer Fan Drive
The Summer Fan Drive provides outreach and relief services in the Austin-Round Rock area for FOUR of the hottest months of the year (May 1 – August 31). The fundraiser is also an important source of support for Family Eldercare's year-round programs and services. Since its first year in operation, the Summer Fan Drive has grown significantly, from 50 fans in 1990 to over 6,000 in 2015, distributed across 11 counties.
