Dear Central Texas REALTORS®,
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Central Texas families affected by the devastating flooding over Memorial Day weekend. Now more than ever, the philanthropic passion of ABoR members can make a meaningful difference on our community. That’s why the ABoR Foundation has partnered with the American Red Cross of Central Texas to provide much-needed support for our Central Texas neighbors.
Here are four ways you can help:
- Connect – Do you know friends, neighbors, or clients whom need help? Red Cross services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to everyone in our community. To access those services, please call 512-928-4271 or visit RedCross.org/Austin. If you or someone you know suffered property damage, you may be eligible for up to $2,500 in assistance from TAR's REALTOR® Relief Fund.
- Volunteer – We’re just beginning to understand the extent of damage and will need more volunteers. To help, fill out a volunteer application. Afterward, a Red Crosser will follow up with you to make assignments based on your availability.
- Donate – The fastest way for you to make an impact on the lives of your neighbors is to donate money. Whether you can give $5 or $500, your donation is helpful and will provide clean up supplies to those returning to damaged homes, meals and shelter for those whom cannot return home, and mental health services for anyone affected. Donate online, call 512-928-4271, or text REDCROSS to 90999 to make an easy $10 donation.
- Prepare – This event may have made you realize you’re not as prepared for a disaster as you could be. Did you have a weather radio when the electricity was out? Did your flashlights have fresh batteries? Did you know what to grab if you had to evacuate? If you answered “no” to any of these questions, consider purchasing an Emergency Preparedness Starter Kit or other items that will ensure you’re prepared.
Your generosity makes the difference for those whom may have lost everything in an instant. Please stay safe and thank you for supporting our community and those in need.
